Understanding Karma

Karma is the currency of this realm.

We survived 2020 and made it to 2021. Welcome back to the backseat. To kick off the year we are going to break down the concept of karma.

"Luke 6:38 Give, and there will be gifts for you: a full measure, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap; because the standard you use will be the standard used for you."

Karma The Currency of This Realm

Karma is the currency of this realm. Each realm has a currency and in this realm, there is always an opportunity cost. Energy must be given in order for energy to be revived back. The issue is most people lack an understanding of what karma truly is. I've come to understand karma for what it is, a means of energy exchange.

Karma is an energy exchange between you and the universe. It is the currency you use to pay the tolls on your journey. With more good karma and positive vibrating energy, you have more currency to pay higher tolls with better outcomes. It grants you access to routes and perspectives not granted to all. With bad karma, you lose currency to pay the tolls and are faced with many restricted access points due to the lack of currency.

Many think of karma as a points system. Do a good dead gain a good karma dollar. Do something bad and you lose a dollar. While this is not entirely inaccurate, it misses the main point. Karma is an exchange of energy system therefore it deals with intentions, not actions. Bad karma comes from malice and evil intention, whereas good karma comes from a place of love, kindness, and light.

In many spiritual texts, we are told that God knows our hearts. Therefore, we cannot lie to the universe or cover up our true selves because our true intentions are always seen. What does this mean? It means good deeds done out of selfish desires don’t gain good karma & bad deeds out of naiveté or true mistakes don’t necessarily get you bad karma. Often times in life we see people have good intentions and bad methods. This is because we are all only human. This means we will inherently be flawed and make mistakes along our journey. This human error is accounted for in the system of karmic exchange. It doesn’t necessarily make us bad people as every person has the propensity for both great good and immense evil.

You are weighed by the intentions. The spirit realm considers your heart and intentions when deciding the outcome of your battles and God designs ways to use your experiences to teach you better methods. This is why being mindful is so important. This is why forgiving yourself and others are so important. The goal should not be to be a perfectly righteous human because that is impossible, but the goal every day should be to be mindful of how we are treating and impacting others. To live our lives in a way that we are checking our motivations constantly to keep us in line with coming from a place of love and good intention.

So today ask yourself what you are doing and why are you doing it?
