Lessons From My Failed Business Endeavors

"If at first, you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again."

I have failed more times than I would like to admit but it is all a part of the game. When you sign up to be an entrepreneur you sign up for a journey of endless lessons.

10 Lessons From My Past Business Failures

  1. Talk less and listen more to pinpoint the client's needs. Don't overwhelm clients in your sales pitch. Simply restate their needs and offer how you can fulfill them. Go one need at a time!

  2. Being confident is the hack to success. People trust and spend with confident people. There are people half as qualified as you doing what you want to do on a large scale.

  3. Always close deals in person because it's harder to say no to someone who’s right in front of you.

  4. Remove emotion and lead with logic always when weighing the value of a business deal or partnership.

  5. Learn your numbers and study them regularly.

  6. Do not get too high on your highs or too low on your lows. There will be endless ups and downs and that cycle of extremes will drain you.

  7. Yes, you need a business contract when working with your friends.

  8. Asking for help and leveraging the talent of others is how you win.

  9. Never lower your price. Implement a better marketing strategy and attract clients who can afford you.

  10. Prepare to scale before you have to scale. Preparation is an act of faith.
